Catan is a resource management game where you collect and trade resources in order to build settlements, cities and roads on the island of Catan.
The board is set up randomly along with numbered disks on each hexagonal resource tile. Each player places settlements and roads on intersections and borders of resource tiles. The robber is placed on the desert tile. A turn consists of rolling dice, collecting resources, trading and building settlements or buying development cards. The first to earn 10 victory points is declared the winner.
This game is suitable for 3-4 players aged 10 and up.
The game plays for approximately 60-120 minutes.
There are many expansions to add more to the game and include Seafarers, Cities and Knights, Traders and Barbarians and Explorers and Pirates. The base game and each of the expansions also have extensions available to bring it to a 5-6 player game.
